As you wander anywhere around Istanbul you will notice these used plastic water jugs being filled with blue plastic caps. They hang from trees, signs, posts and fences - all over the place. Here are two samples I saw last week.
What the heck is going on? Well apparently there is a recycling program in place that turns 150kg (or 250kg - I have heard both) of these caps into a free wheelchair for someone. I have no idea how (or if) it actually works but what a great program! So if you're in Istanbul and drinking water, make sure your caps get into these bottles.
